Nice, the heart of the French Riviera, is a vibrant city celebrated for its stunning Mediterranean coastline, rich history, and artistic heritage. Wander through the charming Old Town (Vieux Nice), stroll along the scenic Promenade des Anglais, and explore world-class museums such as the Musée Matisse and the Musée Chagall.
Nice serves as an excellent hub for scenic drives along the corniche roads that wind between the sea and the mountains, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. From Nice, it’s easy to reach picturesque hilltop villages like Eze, the glamorous principality of Monaco, or the historic town of Antibes, all accessible via stunning coastal or mountainous routes. It’s the perfect base for exploring the beauty and culture of the Côte d’Azur, both on foot and behind the wheel.
Nice Airport
Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) is conveniently located just 7 kilometres southwest of Nice city centre. Renting a car at Nice Airport is simple, with rental offices based in the Car Rental Centre at Terminal 2. A free shuttle bus runs every 5–10 minutes to Terminal 2. If you arrive at Terminal 1, rental desks are near Entrances A1/A2, to the right of the Information Office. If you arrive at Terminal 2, rental desks are situated between Gates A2 and A3. If you need to complete the check-in process, you can do so at the desk or self-service kiosk, then simply head to the nearby parking area to pick up your vehicle.
Drop-offs: After checking in, proceed to the adjacent parking area to collect your car. Returns are handled in the designated area behind Car Park P5 at Terminal 2.
Payment: A credit card is typically required for both payment and the security deposit. Some companies may also accept debit cards under certain conditions.
Vehicle recommendation: For exploring Nice and the French Riviera, a compact car such as Ford Focus or DS 4 is ideal for navigating narrow streets and parking in busy areas. For families or groups, a compact SUV such as the Peugeot 3008 or Cupra Formentor offers added comfort and space for longer journeys.
To avoid delays, particularly during peak season, it’s advisable to book your car rental in advance.
