Paris has something for everyone – whether you're into food, art, or history. Food lovers can wander through the lively markets of Rue Cler and Rue Montorgueil, picking up fresh baguettes, cheeses, and pastries along the way. History buffs will love exploring Le Marais, with its cobbled streets, cozy cafés, and the Musée Carnavalet, which tells the story of Paris. The Latin Quarter buzzes with energy, home to the Panthéon and the peaceful Luxembourg Gardens. With its artistic legacy, Montmartre oozes bohemian charm, culminating in the breathtaking Sacré-Cœur Basilica.
Just a short 30-minute trip from Paris, the Palace of Versailles is a must-see UNESCO World Heritage site, famous for its lavish architecture, and André Le Nôtre’s beautifully designed gardens. For a less crowded but equally stunning alternative, Château de Fontainebleau, about an hour away, offers centuries of royal history amidst a beautiful forest. Art lovers can explore Giverny, Monet’s home and inspiration for his iconic gardens, located 75 km northwest of Paris. Meanwhile, wine enthusiasts can head to Reims and the Champagne Region, an hour from the city, to tour legendary champagne houses like Moët & Chandon and Veuve Clicquot, and visit Reims Cathedral, where French kings were crowned.
Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport
Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is located about 25 kilometres northeast of the Paris city centre. The airport offers a convenient car rental experience, with rental counters situated in both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. A free shuttle bus connects the terminals for easy access. Major car rental companies, including Hertz, Avis, Europcar, Enterprise, and Sixt, have service desks at the airport. If you need to complete the check-in process, you can do so at the desk or self-service kiosk, then simply head to the nearby parking area to pick up your vehicle.
Drop-offs: Rental cars are typically returned to designated car rental areas near the terminals. Follow the signage to find the correct drop-off location.
Payment: A credit card is typically required for both payment and the security deposit. Some companies may also accept debit cards under certain conditions.
Vehicle recommendation: For getting around Paris, the Peugeot 2008 and Toyota Yaris Cross are great small SUV options. They're compact, fuel-efficient, and easy to handle in city traffic. If you are heading out of the city and need something more versatile, the CUPRA Formentor and Škoda Karoq offer a great mix of comfort, practicality, and performance – perfect for both city streets and longer countryside drives.
